To ensure you get a perfectly fitted jacket it is important to have accurate measurements. To get these correct, we recommend having a friend or colleague to help you; and following the simple guide our master tailor has written in order to make the process easy and precise.
It is important to use a tailor’s tape measure, and if you do not have one, we are happy to send you a tape measure free of charge.
Measurements can be taken in either imperial or metric.
A long sleeve shirt (not a sweatshirt)
Trousers (not jeans)
The tape should wrap around the fullest part of your chest, high up under the arms and across your shoulder blades close to the top of your back.
Measure straight across the widest part of your stomach, wrapping the tape around your body.
Measure across the widest part of the seat, the tape measure should wrap around your hips and meet at your side. If you have a person measuring you, they should stand at your side to ensure the tape measure is straight and across the seat.
As your jacket is being made to order, you can specify any length you wish. It is best to measure the length from an existing favourite jacket.
Take the measurement from the seam below the neck to the bottom edge of the jacket. (lift the collar to expose the seam)
You can refer to the size chart below which contains approximate jacket lengths based on your size and height.
Wearing an existing jacket, have your colleague measure from the top of the sleeve at the shoulder seam, down to the bottom of the cuff.
You can also check this length using the size chart.
With the same existing jacket that fits you; measure from the shoulder seam where it meets the sleeve straight across your back to the other shoulder.
Our master tailor looks at every order before it goes into production. Knowing your height, weight and existing jacket size enables us to make sure that your measurements are accurate by comparing the data. Anything that doesn’t seem correct will be queried with you before going into production.
If you require any assistance, we would be delighted to arrange a Zoom video call appointment with our Master Tailor who would be happy to assist you.
